People have declared they have been 'living a lie' after discovering they have been using cooking oil wrong for years.
A TikTok video recently surfaced in which someone revealed the correct way to measure out vegetable or sunflower oil from a bottle - and for many home cooks, it is a game-changer.
The clip, whish was posted on the Foodies TikTok channel, showed someone opening a bottle of oil with a ring-pull cap.
Whereas many would throw the cap away after pulling it off the top of the bottle, this amateur cook revealed it actually has a very helpful use for measuring the oil.
Following the publication of the video, people declared they would never use oil the same way again, The Sun reports.

The short clip, posted on TikTok, shows someone pulling off the green ring cap that is found on all bottles of oil.
Whereas most people would throw away the cap, this savvy cook instead inserts it back into the hole at the top of the bottle.
They turn it upside down and slot it into the bottle before pouring out the oil, which now has a barrier to stop too much pouring out.

The clever trick allows the user to control how much oil comes out of the bottle, ensuring that not too much escapes.
In response to the video, one TikTok user said: 'So I have been living a lie my entire life.'
Another joked: 'How didn't I know this until right now?!'
However, others decided the clever hack wasn't something they needed to know and declared the tip 'unnecessary'.
